The calendar and t-shirt contests are currently postponed due to a lack of submissions and also a need for more planning on the organizers part.

When we re-open these contests, the prizes will be a copy of either the calendar or the t-shirt, depending on what your image is selected for.

Thanks for your understanding on this.

-----

The first contest unfortunately initially had an unreasonable deadline. We've decided that to make the most of this calendar and to give people appropriate time to polish their work, that it is appropriate for us to extend the deadline by a few months. Our goal will now be to have an 18 month calendar that we can begin selling in mid-2006. At the moment, we'd recommend focusing on the T-shirt contest first.

---

The calendar contest will be an 18 months of Inkscape calendar. Obviously we will have spots for 18 winning entries.

The rules for the calendar image contest are as follows.

:bulletblue:All submissions must be able to accomodate both 13.5" x 10.25" (if we do premium calendars) and 11" x 8.5" (in case we go with standard calendars). To achieve this we recommend aiming for the larger print size but not including any necessary image elements by the edges of the picture (for cropping if necessary).
:bulletblue:All submissions must be appropriate for all ages (no nudity, profanity, or anything else offensive).
:bulletblue:All submissions will most likely be modified prior to printing to include the logo and "draw freely". Feel free to incorporate these into your design, otherwise they will most likely be added by our staff.
:bulletblue:You may submit already completed artwork of your own provided it meets the above requirements.
:bulletblue:It must be made in Inkscape only with no post processing as we will require the original SVG(s) for printing.
:bulletblue:You must license the image in a way that allows us to sell the calendar (which all proceeds will go to the Inkscape project). This ties into not being able to use others copyrighted works (only your own)
:bulletblue:Have fun and we'll see you back here next week!

As always post your submissions in the form of replies to this message (with the appropriate subject for which contest your entry is for)

Good luck!

--------------------------------------

The second contest will be running through January 15.

This contest will be for T-shirt designs for Inkscape. The idea is that we will have T-shirts produced and have profits go toward further Inkscape development.

The rules for the T-Shirt contest are as follows:

:bulletred:You will need to create both the front and back of any given shirt design.
:bulletred:All submissions must include the Inkscape logo and "draw freely". (The designs are not limited to just the logo and tag line, you can get as creative as you want)
:bulletred:All submissions must be appropriate for all ages (no nudity, profanity, or anything else offensive).
:bulletred:It must be made in Inkscape only with no post processing as we will require the original SVG(s) for manufacturing.
:bulletred:You must license the image in a way that allows us to sell the T-shirts (which all proceeds will go to the Inkscape project). This ties into not being able to use others copyrighted works (only your own)
:bulletred:Have Fun!

We have not decided an arbitrary number of winners as we are waiting to see how many entries there are.

As always post your submissions in the form of replies to this message (with the appropriate subject for which contest your entry is for)

Good luck!

Right-o, here's a comic I did entirely in Inkscape. Adding the logo should be easy.

Are there prizes of some kind? I assume the winners of the t-shirt contest get a copy of the shirt and winners of the calendar contest get a copy of the calendar?

Really if you like any of my inkscape are in my gallery you could use those. I don't do much post proccessing. The only ones where I had another program were just for backgrounds but I could delete the background or make something else if you like the picture. Just let me know and I'll reformat them to the proper dimensions...I assume that wouldn't be too hard because they are SVGs, right? :)

Anyway...if you need more submissions then look over the gallery and let me know.
